The Howard, a multi-family project located in the Olde Kensington area of Philadelphia, is currently in the construction phase. Being a half-block from the Market Frankford line, the site is an easy commute into Center City.
The new construction is set to be a six story mixed-use building with 45 one and two bedroom apartment units as well as artists' studio space on the ground floor.
Situating itself on a block of warehouses, many of which have also been repurposed as artist studios and apartments, this design is respectful of its history while reflecting the same language as its context. The neighborhood itself is active; having recreation centers, grocery stores, coffee shops and restaurants all within walking distance to the site.
The building takes on the site's material language and plays subtly with form. The break in the line of the building is a simple yet effective way to differentiate The Howard from the rest of the block.
We work hard to understand our client's needs and communicate well with them throughout the design process so that we have a shared understanding of the details of the project being delivered.
In all of our work, it is critical that our projects be built as intended, meeting design intent at every possible level, and delivered on-time and on-budget.
"Stanev Potts did the design work here, and the rendering below shows industrial influence, but a fun contemporary touch with the angled corner."
