Stephan Kuttner Potts

AIA – Principal

Stephan Potts, founding Principal, brings technical and creative vision to all the firm’s projects.  Stephan’s understanding of the practical aspects of construction married with an astute vision and a curiosity for material, fabrication and detail, results in unique and innovative designs that also strive for efficiency and cost effectiveness.  Stephan is involved in all aspect of the realization of projects, from conception to detail to management and construction administration, and brings experience of a wide range of scales and programs.

Stephan received his Bachelors Degree in Design of the Environment from University of Pennsylvania and his Masters in Architecture from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design. High school summers spent on construction sites, often interning with various building trades, provided him a firm grasp of actual construction methodology and implementation. His prior experience with major institutional and academic projects while at Bohlin Cywinski Jackson helped him acquire an equal confidence with state-of-the-art building construction technology which he can apply cohesively to every scale of project.

He has explored his interest in the intersections between architecture, sculpture, industrial design and interactive media in a variety of ways, including a two-year sculptural apprenticeship in Rome Italy, and grant-based research in cross disciplinary user-responsive building elements.  A parallel interest in music is satisfied through singing with the Philadelphia Singers Chorale, frequently the chorus of choice of the Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as The Savoy Company.
