This refresh began with a classic ranch house that had undergone several disparate renovations over the years. The existing front door entered at the bedroom wing of the home, while the kitchen and dining room were located much further away.
The challenge was to reorganize the circulation around the primary living spaces to create a flow that sensibly gradates from a central ‘hub’ of the home to more intimate spaces. After relocating and centering the door, the kitchen and dining rooms were swapped. This created a clear axis of circulation for family and guests entering and exiting. A custom screen wall separates a new home office and homework zone from the dining area, giving each activity a place while integrating them architecturally.

Designed to be functional, the kitchen was carefully detailed to create an open and active design. The mudroom, guest room, and master suites were updated as well, bringing light and openness to the home as a whole.
